In Harare, Zimbabwe, MECANMED's full-time local service engineer provided on-site installation and commissioning support at a healthcare facility. The facility was an end customer of one of MECANMED's medical equipment distributor clients.
The service covered three newly delivered systems: a digital ECG machine, an EEG machine and a transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) machine.
Over several visits, the engineer installed the equipment, worked with the factory team on software setup for the EEG and TMS machines, and trained healthcare staff in basic operation. The customer also completed a service feedback form after the work.
Following the service request, MECANMED's local engineer visited the healthcare facility to install three newly delivered medical equipment systems.
The installation covered:
Digital ECG machine: Equipment installation and initial setup.
EEG machine: Installation of the system and its associated components.
Transcranial magnetic stimulation machine: Installation and initial system setup.
The work was carried out over multiple on-site visits to address the installation requirements of each system. Software configuration and commissioning support for the EEG and TMS machines were handled as a separate part of the service process.
The EEG and TMS installations required additional software support. MECANMED's local engineer contacted the factory engineering team for assistance, and the software installation and commissioning were completed with their support.
After installation and commissioning, MECANMED's local engineer provided practical training to help healthcare staff become familiar with the basic operation of the newly installed equipment.
For the EEG machine, the training covered patient connection procedures and printing analysis reports. The engineer also provided guidance on relevant software functions requested by the users.
For the TMS machine, the engineer demonstrated basic operation and guided staff through the equipment interface.
Relevant instructional videos and user manuals were provided to support continued familiarization with the equipment after the on-site training.
Documenting completed service work helps maintain a clear record of medical equipment installation and after-sales support.
Following the installation and commissioning activities, MECANMED's engineer completed a service report covering the equipment involved, the actions taken and the recorded equipment status after service. The customer acknowledged the report by signing it.
This report creates a technical record for future service follow-up. It also maintains continuity in communication between the customer, local service engineers, and factory engineers.
The customer also completed a separate service feedback form covering overall satisfaction, problem resolution, communication with the engineer and the explanation of the work performed.
In the written feedback, the customer stated, “All questions were answered to satisfaction,” reflecting a positive experience with the service communication.
The service achieved three main outcomes:
Equipment installation and commissioning: The digital ECG, EEG and TMS systems were installed and commissioned. Additional software support for the EEG and TMS machines was coordinated with the factory engineering team.
Basic user training delivered: Healthcare staff received practical guidance on equipment operation, supported by relevant instructional videos and user manuals.
Service completion documented: The engineer completed the service report, and the customer provided written service feedback.
The service report recorded the equipment as working following service, and the requested installation and basic user training activities were completed.
MECANMED supports healthcare facilities and medical equipment distributors with medical equipment supply, on-site installation, commissioning and basic user training, subject to project requirements and local service availability.
When additional technical assistance is needed, our local service engineers can coordinate with the factory engineering team to support the installation process.
